About the Author
Jan Urbanski received a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Eastern Connecticut State College in 1982, a Master of Arts degree in Guidance and Counseling from the University of South Florida in 1991, an Educational Specialist degree in Educational Leadership from the University of South Florida in 2003, and an Educational Doctorate in Leadership from the University of South Florida in 2007. She is currently the supervisor of the Pinellas County Schools Safe and Drug Free Schools Office where she oversees bullying prevention, drug and violence prevention, and an award-winning character education program. In addition to her experience as a Prevention Specialist, an elementary teacher, and school counselor, she has conducted workshops on bullying prevention, conflict resolution, and character education at the local, state, and national levels. Joan Reubens received a Bachelor of Science degree in Behavior Disorders from the University of South Florida in 1999 and a Master of Science degree in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University in 2002. She works for the Office of Safe and Drug Free Schools, in Pinellas County Schools, Florida where she is a Prevention Specialist teaching and presenting workshops on bullying prevention and intervention, conflict resolution, and peer mediation to staff, students, and parents. Currently, her focus has been solely on bullying prevention and intervention as she assists with the implementation of the district s Policy against Bullying and Harassment. Prior to working for Safe and Drug Free Schools, she was an Exceptional Education classroom teacher working with middle school students.
